LOW PITCH ROOF FIXING GUIDE

Before you start approximately 4 inches above your  intended wall plate height cut a grove into the wall

1. First decide on the correct height for the aluminum  wall plate (2.5 to 5 degrees) then ensuring it is level fix it to the wall at approximately every 600mm  note pvc under cladding should be on wall plate before fixing

2. There is a grove along the length of the wall plate designed to take captive bolts slide these bolts into place allowing two per bar.

3. Drill a pair of holes into the end of each bar30mm  from the top of the bar then pass the bolts through the holes you have drilled secure into position with  fixing nut. (bar spacing = sheet size + 8mm)

4.Offer aluminum end closure up to wall on top of glazing bars and mark glazing bar centers. Then cut a notch into  the bottom of the profile  approximately 5mm wide up  to the up stand. This profile should then locate onto the  end of glazing bars. Check it

5.The lower end of the bar should be drilled into a  the lower wall plate( not supplied) you can either use timber 4x4 which can be clad later or if using  upvc windows a purpose designed wall plate.

6.Cut bars to length (remember to allow 60mm into   the guttering) then cut your sheets to length (remove swarf from sheets with a vacuum then seal sheets with anti dust tape) solid tape goes on the top edge of the poly vented on the bottom edge.

7.Fit polycarbonate sheets in place and locate  into aluminium closure silicone to seal sheets
USE NEUTRAL CURE SILICONE

8.Fit upvc capping onto bar and push up in to aluminium closure profile silicone where pvc capping meets  aluminum flashing

9.Slide the variable angle flashing support trim along    the aluminum closure then dress lead into the precut  grove then down the wall and onto the lead flashing   support trim dress the lead and trim as required.

10. Fit sides to edge bars clip into place then use double  sided tapes to fix. Now place sheet upvc closures to   bottom edge of polycarbonate sheets fit bar end caps and install your gutter system as norm.

Why Low Pitch Roofing

A conservatory is one of the most important additions to your home and the roof is the most important part of any conservatory. A strong but lightweight roof is an essential requirement as it holds the entire structure together. As well as being watertight, it has to withstand heavy snowfalls in winter and strong sunlight in summer to endure the worst of the British weather for many years, whilst still looking good.
To ensure that your conservatory is finished with the best quality and highest performing roof possible, we are pleased to introduce the ‘ultimate’ new polycarbonate roof system.

Simple Strong Design

System 40 is a unique ‘Snap-Fit’ roof glazing system which is quick and simple to install specifically designed for low pitch and variable pitch lean-to conservatories. The Polycarbonate roofing system incorporates 40mm ’X’ Structure reinforced glazing panels co extruded with an ultra-violet layer which forms a barrier against UV radiation and protects against the sun.

System 40 is the only low pitch/variable pitch roofing system which offers a choice of panel colour with ranging light transmissions. The glazing system is available in white or brown/mahogany wood grain as standard. This enables you to create your own special environment and pleasing aesthetics inside your conservatory. The extensive choice of colours are clear, bronze or opal finish as well as the heat reflective ‘ATHERMIC’ option. Athermic can reduce solar energy transmission by up to 35% in hot sunny weather. It is possible to install internal roof blinds (if necessary) with polycarbonate roof glazing panels.

The special marble finish of the co-extruded Polycarbonate glazing panels offers a relaxing diffused light while maintaining a high degree of privacy. This also minimises the sight of any external surface debris. The roof glazing bars all have sculptured PVCu external cappings and internal ogee claddings to give a nice attractive and traditional appearance.

Easy Installation

The simple design and snap-fit glazing system makes the roof quick and easy to install. The roof pitch is variable from 2.5 degrees to 30 degrees which means it can be installed on virtually every type of property utilising the advantages of its slim line construction. The factory prepared roof system is available in various projections and widths and can be simply trimmed to exact length or width as required on site. We can also supply cut-to-size roofs to fix exactly.

System 40 Polycarbonate panels are manufactured from one of the toughest and safest materials available. This coupled with the specifically designed ‘X’ structure, offers excellent thermal insulation properties and one of the lowest ‘U’ values for systems of this kind. Even better than sealed triple glazed glass units. The strength and longevity of the aluminum and PVCu glazing system enables spans up to 5 metres projection and is so strong it is able to provide a safe maintenance platform for house repairs (with boards) and as a means of escape.

Resistance To Weathering

during the manufacture of System 40 Polycarbonate panels a layer of UV absorber is co extruded onto the surface forming a barrier against UV radiation.

System 40 panels carry a limited 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee against discolouration, ageing and resistance to hailstones.

All structural components in aluminum & PVCu for strength and total weather resistance.

Low Pitch Systems

Lowest permitted pitch of 2.5 degrees with excellent water integrity. Ideal for bungalow’s or wherever height restrictions apply. Spans self-supporting up to 5.4 metre projection. Fully variable roof pitch from 2.5° pitch to 30° pitch.

Strong Polycarbonate Sheeting
System 40 Polycarbonate panels are light in weight and up to 200 times stronger than glass and 10 times stronger than PVCu panels. Heavy Duty Structural Aluminum & PVCu glazing system for ultimate strength. Strong enough to be walked on as a means of escape and maintenance (use yeoman boards during maintenance for safety)

Thermal Insulation

40mm ‘X’ Structure Polycarbonate panels offer the best insulation properties available (1.4w/m2k). Much better than sealed, triple glazed glass units. Excellent thermal insulation = Lower heating bills. Good sound insulation. compared with 1m or 10mm polycarbonate

Fire Rating

Structured polycarbonate sheets have been tested to most European standards and to BS476 Part 7 and BS476 Part 6 with a Class 1 Fire Rating. System 40 panels are classed as self-extinguishing and do not emit toxic gasses, unlike PVCu panels.
